  • Law 9/2006

    Under the provisions of Law 9/2006, on the assessment of the effects of certain plans and programmes on the environment, compulsory planning for the gas and electricity sectors must undergo a strategic environmental assessment, which enables environmental aspects to be integrated into the projects' development and contributes to protecting the environment.

  • Preliminary Report

    In November 2010, the Energy Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade published the Preliminary Environmental Assessment Report for the 2012-2020 Electricity and Gas Planning Schedule.

  • Public Information Preliminary Report

    On 20 January 2011, as stipulated in article 19 of Law 9/2006, the Directorate General of Quality and Environmental Assessment, of the Ministry of the Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs, sent the documentation to the public sector authorities expected to be affected and the public concerned, notifying them that the process had begun and requesting their opinions so as to undertake the assessment.
    Through a decision published on 31 January 2011 in Official State Gazette no. 26, the Directorate General of Quality and Environmental Assessment announced that the consultation period had begun.

  • Reference Document

    After analysing the Preliminary Environmental Assessment Report, the responses from the public sector authorities and the consulted public concerned, the Directorate General of Quality and Environmental Assessment decided to approve the Reference Document for the drafting of the Environmental Sustainability Report for the 2012-2020 Electricity and Gas Planning Schedule, through a decision dated 17 June 2011.

  • Public Information Sustainability Report

    The Environmental Sustainability Report prepared by the Energy Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade was submitted for public consultation through an announcement in the Official State Gazette. The time limit for public information and consultation on the preliminary version of the Planning Schedule and the Environmental Sustainability Report was set at 45 business days, pursuant to Law 9/2006.

    The French authorities were also consulted through the Directorate General of General Affairs and Coordination of Policies under the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, a division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

    In August 2011, the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade website published the Environmental Sustainability Report associated with the 2012-2020 Planning Schedule.For more information, click here.

  • Environmental Report

    Once the consultation stage has ended, the promoting agency and the environmental body will jointly prepare the Environmental Report for the 2012-2020 Electricity and Gas Planning Schedule, which will contain the final environmental conclusions that must be incorporated into the Planning Schedule.
