Technical Management of the System

Gas System Operation

Print

The system management activities for the integrated Operation and Programming of the System are centralised in Enagás’ Principal Control Centre.

The Principal Control Centre mission consists of ensuring that the operations of all parties which use the system’s facilities are always within the parameters established in the current legal framework, and that these operations do not interfere with the continuity and quality of natural gas supply at any point in Spain. In order to carry out this coordination and optimisation work for the joint operation of the System, independently of the owner and operator of each of the facilities, the PCC is responsible for:
  • the viability of the individual commercial operations of each system user
  • planning the short-term operation of the system and its viability
  • issuing the instructions required to facilities operators so that they can carry out the operations planned in a coordinated way, and
  • managing any deviations or operational constraints which might arise.

In order to do this, it receives continuously updated information on all parameters required for the remote control and operation of the pipeline network, with qualified personnel available 24 hours a day to handle any incidents which arise.

All the information is received by Enagás’ control system through its communication network and is processed by complex automated systems, which enable a vast volume of information to be processed in real time.
